Australia have qualified for the World Test Championship (WTC) final and ended India's contention after winning the fifth and final Test in Sydney by six wickets and hence the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 3-1. Australia's win meant that India were knocked out of the race to make it to their third consecutive final and their dream of winning the Test mace remains distant, having lost the final twice. Indian vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has been nominated alongside four other star players for the ICC ODI Women's Cricketer of the Year for 2024 award. Mandhana had a stellar year in the 50-over format as she builds herself up for the Women's ODI World Cup next year in India.
