ICC ODI rankings: Rohit Sharma closes in on Babar Azam, Rachin Ravindra gains big; Virat Kohli drops down

Indian captain Rohit Sharma benefitted from his 83-ball 76 in the Champions Trophy final as he gained a couple of spots in the latest ICC rankings for batters in ODIs to find himself in third position. Rohit didn't have a great tournament scoring just 104 runs in four matches prior to the final but the skipper came clutch when it mattered the most chasing against New Zealand in the summit clash. Cricket Australia are set to name Steve Smith as their captain for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025, slated to begin on February 19. Regular captain Pat Cummins is ruled out of the marquee event, owing to an ankle injury, which opened the room for discussion for Australia’s captain for the Champions Trophy. Mitchell Marsh, the leader of the T20I side was expected to take over as he did during the England series but the all-rounder too suffered an injury and is out of the competition.
